What are YOU going to do after graduation? What is your child going to do after graduation?

Independent U pairs individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) 21 and over with a specific USG staff person. This program runs Monday through Friday, 8am to 3pm. Individuals find volunteer opportunities in the community based on personal interests. They volunteer at day care centers reading to children, helping the children learn patience, and the importance of showing respect to others. They volunteer at retirement communities where they help transport residents in wheel chairs to various appointments. They are greeters at museums and help deliver Meals-on-Wheels to those who are house bound. There are many more volunteer opportunities not listed. The program objective is to help the individuals learn work skills so that they may be marketable for a competitive work environment at some future point. USG assists in resume’ development and attaining personal goals. In addition, this program provides an opportunity for the participants to demonstrate their skills and abilities as assets to the community in which they live and work. USG provides services to a range of individuals with on a varying scale of abilities. Each individual is supported based on their unique situation.
If you are a business or organization that is in need of compassionate and dependable volunteers, Independent U is always looking for new and exciting opportunities! Please contact United Support Group if you are interested in opening your business or organization to the Independent U Program!
